Several Canadian Information Communication Technology and Business Process 0utsourcing (ICT-BPO) companies are planning to expand in Davao City, according to Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Neil Reeder.
Davao City’s stable work force and good working environment are luring the companies now with established operations in Cebu nd Manila, Reeder told Davao City journalists.
Reeder was in Davao City as special guest at the General Membership Meeting (GMM) of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (Cancham) Davao Chapter.
Reeder identified the Canadian companies with ICT-BPO operations in the Philippines as the insurance company Manulife, Canada’s largest software company Aquilini Group, the world’s third largest aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace, and Telus, one of Canada’s largest telecom companies.
National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) Regional Director Maria Lourdes D. Lim earlier said that with Davao City identified as one of the country’s outstanding ICT-BPO destinations and a consistent Next Wave City, more ICT-BPO companies are eyeing the city for expansions.
Lim and Lizabel G. Holganza, president of National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), sqid Holganza and Lim said the recent developments in the BPO industry in Davao City show the growing confidence and interest of BPO investors to the city.
