Reluctant presidential candidate Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has further revved up his presence in the public consciousness with another media blitz, this time with radio advertisements aired over selected areas in the Visayas and Luzon.
The radio ads come as Duterte, in the top three of presidential preference in surveys by both Social Weather Stations (SWS) and Pulse Asia, continues to deny he is running for President in 2016.
Earlier, television ads with Duterte in focus were aired briefly in some television stations.
Duterte’s sudden surge in the ratings game has sparked a nationwide hysteria with websites, blogs, social media and mainstream media lapping up reports about the charismatic mayor of Mindanao’s premier city.
Since early this year, Duterte has been going around the country with his ‘Listening Tour,” a series of speaking engagements and forums on Federalism.
While Duterte kept to his heart his plan for 2016, the radio ads were expected to factor in upcoming surveys by SWS and Pulse Asia.
The pooling outfits are expected to conduct another survey in June.
In results of their recent surveys, Duterte placed third behind front-runner Vice President Jejomar Binay and second placer Senator Grace Poe.
Reports had said that Duterte was set to announce whether he will run or not for President after the results of the June surveys are out.
