The 10th Infantry Division (10ID) on Tuesday named Col. Erwin Bernard Neri as the new commander of Task Force Davao following a request from Mayor Sara Duterte to replace Col. Henry Robinson after Friday’s explosion at the Roxas night market.
This was announced by 10ID Deputy Commander BGen. Casiano Monilla, who said a change of command will take place today between Neri and outgoing TF Davao commander Col. Robinson, who has only served the task force for more than two months.
Monilla said Neri’s appointment has the approval of the mayor, who has asked a replacement for Robinson following Friday’s explosion. Also set to be replaced is Davao City Police Office (DCPO) chief Sr. Supt. Michael John Dubria, whose replacement is still awaiting final decision at the national headquarters.
While Mayor Sara has confidence in the leadership of Robinson, she said a replacement is a natural consequence after the bombing incident.
“They have not been officially relieved but I have spoken with the officials concerned and I told them I want new people and ideas,” she said. (DAVAO CITY, Sept. 7/PNA)
