Presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte unleashed his vilest description of rival Mar Roxas, calling him an ‘idiot’ at a rally on March 1 in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

The standard bearer of the opposition Partido Demokratiko Pilipino/Laban, the tough-talking Davao City Mayor did not spare in his verbal blast President Benigno Aquino and his Tuwid na Daan program of governance.

Tuwid na Daan, according to Duterte is  “a fantasy” created by the Aquino administration.

Tuwid na Daan, “all along was really their fantasy,” said Duterte referring to Aquino and Roxas, former Interior secretary of the Aquino administration.

Under the Aquino administration, “nothing happens, only pure corruption,” Duterte told the large crowd gathered at the town plaza.

Roxas, the candidate of Aquino’s ruling Liberal Party, has vowed to continue the Tuwid na Daan program if he is elected President in the May elections.

In an earlier statement, Duterte said Roxas is the “most incompetent Filipino to have aspired to be President.”

A word war with Duterte sparked late last year after Roxas called as a “myth” claims that Davao City is one of the safest cities in the country. The verbal joust led to  dares to a  slapping and boxing match and a gun duel but did not end in a physical encounter.

Duterte has vowed to fight crime and corruption and promised he would replicate nationwide his successful fight against anti-illegal drugs if elected. Duterte is widely known for his iron-fist campaign against drug pushers.

Last week, Roxas twitted Duterte’s fight against drugs saying that he could by drugs anytime in Davao City.

In his Lingayen speech, Duterte reacted strongly to Roxas’ atatement.

Roxas is an “idiot.” Drugs are everywhere in the Philippines, Duterte said.

The camp of Duterte had turned the tables on Roxas after his claim about his boast that he could easily buy drugs in Davao City.

Duterte spokesman Peter Lavina said Roxas is a “protector of druglords” for knowing the presence of drugs in Davao City and not reporting it to authorities.
